A 33-year-old woman has died and two people are fighting for their lives after they were crushed in a stampede at a concert in Rochester.
The female victim and eight others were crushed in the stampede during a show by GloRilla and Finesse2Tymes at the Main Street Armory location in Rochester at around 11:05 p.m. last night.
They were injured when the crowd mistakenly believed they heard the sound of gunfire amid the loud music and ran for the exits.
Rochester police said no shots were fired at the location, but some in the panicked crowd were injured in the stampede.
“All I know, it was a lot of running. Many people were injured. I see people lying on the ground, as if they are very injured,” said a witness News10NBC.

Emergency services took a 33-year-old woman and two other victims by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital. The woman died of her injuries, while the two concertgoers are in a critical, life-threatening condition.
Six other victims were rushed to hospital in private vehicles – their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Rochester police said while on scene following a report of a shooting, detectives determined that none of the injuries sustained by the victims were consistent with a person being shot.
“At this time, there is no evidence that a shooting occurred at the event,” said Lieutenant Nicholas Adams of the Rochester Police Department.
“The injuries appear to be the result of a large crowd pushing for the exits after accounts from individuals who heard what they believed were gunshots.”
GloRilla, who performed at the venue, tweeted in the early hours of this morning, “I’m just now hearing what happened. Praying that everyone is okay.’
