William Shatner, 91, “has not long to live” as he makes a documentary about his life

William Shatner has spoken candidly about his own mortality ahead of the release of a documentary about his illustrious career titled You Can Call Me Bill.

The 91-year-old Star Trek legend said he “doesn’t have long to live,” but decided to make the movie as a way to “reach out to his grandchildren” after his death.

Speak against Variety he said: ‘I’ve already turned down a lot of offers to make documentaries. But I don’t have long to live.”

“Whether I fall over talking to you or 10 years from now, my time is limited, so that plays a big part. I have grandchildren. This documentary is a way to reach out after I’m dead.”

The film, directed by Alexandre O. Philippe, will premiere at the upcoming SXSW Film Festival in Texas.

William is the father of daughters Leslie, Lisabeth and Melanie from three previous marriages and is a grandfather of five.

Speaking of his family The protector in 2014 he said, ‘Being a grandparent is the greatest joy for me. I now have time to hold a grandchild and talk and hug and kiss them and make sure I take the time to be with them and show them some aspect of the things I’ve learned through to give’.

“Family life encompasses everything. I see my daughters every weekend. And we go on vacation together — everything from skiing to snorkeling.”

It comes after William reunites with ex-wife Elizabeth Martin, three years after their $2 million split.

The actor got back together with Elizabeth, 64, and attended the Living Legends of Aviation Awards in Beverly Hills in January.

Speak against The mirror, William was not shy about discussing the couple’s newfound passion, saying, “My wife … she is the joy of life.” She brings the taste.’

The pair then discussed how best to describe that ‘spice’ to which William jokingly replied, ‘Mustard?’ while Elizabeth added, “Cinnamon.”

The Avaiaton Awards, which were hosted by John Travolta, would be the first red carpet event the couple has attended since reuniting.

He also paid Elizabeth a $2 million lump sum in spousal support according to their prenuptial agreement,” TMZ reported.

As part of the settlement, William kept his home in Studio City and a ranch in Three Rivers, California (near Sequoia National Park).

Elizabeth got their home in Malibu Cove and their home in Versailles, Kentucky and part of her family’s Indiana farm.

She also kept the 2015 Mercedes Benz ML65, the 2007 BMW X5 and a 2004 Ford Explorer.

William was previously married to Gloria Rand from 1956 until their divorce in 1969; they have three children: Leslie, Lisabeth and Melanie.

His second wife was Marcy Lafferty, from 1973 to 1996 and his third was Nerine Kidd Shatner, whom he married in 1997.

She died in August 1999 after accidental drowning in their pool; the 40-year-old had alcohol and Valium in her blood at the time of death.

He married Elizabeth two years later in 2001.
