Marcus Rashford, Antony, Bruno Fernandes and Wout Weghorst scored to lift Manchester United to an emphatic 4-1 victory over Real Betis in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 draw on Thursday, four days after their 7-0 defeat to Liverpool .
Rashford scored his 25th goal of the season in the fifth minute, but Ayoze Perez on loan from Leicester City scored his first goal for Betis in the 32nd minute.
Brazil winger Antony put United ahead in the 52nd minute by launching a blistering left footed shot from just outside the box into the top corner and six minutes later Fernandes shrugged off the scathing criticism he received as captain after the poor performance from Sunday with a goal to head in a corner from the fingertips of Betis keeper Claudio Bravo.
Weghorst finally got his goal in the 82nd minute after missing numerous chances and firing the ball into the net after a substitute Facundo Pellistri came on as a substitute.

Paul Scholes expressed doubts about Bruno Fernandes as captain despite impressing on Thursday
Scholes is not convinced by Bruno
Not everyone shared Erik ten Hag’s view that Bruno Fernandes is captain material after his affectation in Sunday’s 7-0 defeat to Liverpool.
Paul Scholes knows a thing or two about playing under strong leaders at Manchester United, and he’s not entirely convinced that Fernandes should be given the job on a permanent basis when Harry Maguire leaves Old Trafford this summer.
“Your captain has to have an influence, a leader, calm characters like him (Fernandes),” Scholes told BT Sport.
“I would be concerned if United go for the title in March or April. I don’t think it would be ideal to have him as captain. Going forward, bigger games, going for trophies, Champions League finals, a captain with less emotion might be better. He won’t be proud of what happened on Sunday.’

Scholes does not believe Fernandes should be United’s long-term captain after Liverpool’s loss
The same XI told to make amends
Ten Hag’s decision to call an unchanged line-up was a clear message to the players who capitulated so disastrously at Anfield: you got us into this mess, now get us out of it.
“Of course they will have the chance of rehabilitation,” the United manager said before kick-off.
Ten Hag, who came out of the tunnel wearing a beanie when a tin helmet would have been more appropriate, added notes in his match schedule: “It is unacceptable for Manchester United to lose to any team in that way, especially against Liverpool . The players have been in no doubt that we cannot tolerate what we saw in the second half on Sunday.
Joaquin rolls back the years
Age is just a number for Joaquin, who played for Spain in the 2002 World Cup.
The 41-year-old Real Betis captain was everywhere, playing the number 10 role, as you can see on his touchmap.
It was his 18th game of the season.
The Spaniard began his professional career in 1999 – the same year United won the treble under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Unfortunate return for Bravo
Claudio Bravo went through a rough time at Manchester City after Pep Guardiola signed him in the summer of 2016 to replace Joe Hart.
The Chilean’s return to the North West didn’t fare much better as he was beaten four times at Old Trafford in a night to soon forget.

Freeze
You had to think about the visitors from southern Spain.
Seville has had high temperatures this week, but it was a degree above freezing here at kick-off.
In any case, Real Betis boss Manuel Pellegrini will have been well prepared after three years at Manchester City.
