A tradie is hailed as a hero after he managed to warn a family when their car caught fire while driving before helping two adults and a baby escape.

Sunshine Coast man Brendan Kendell saw flames coming out of a rental car driven by a Polish family when he promptly made a U-turn and flagged them down on Eumundi Noosa Road on Monday.

The tourists had only rented the car 15 minutes before it caught fire.

Mr. Kendell managed to pull the driver over by repeatedly flashing his lights and blowing his horn.

He then jumped out of his car and rushed to the aid of the tourists.

Mr. Kendell told 7News when they asked what was wrong, he instructed them to get their baby out of the car immediately as it was about to explode.

“I was like, buddy, your car is on fire,” he said.

“The man and his wife jumped out and then they took the baby out.

“I told them the car is really going to explode.”

After the incident, Mr. Kendall wrote on Facebook, “Wow, that was fucking intense.”

People online praised the tradie’s quick thinking and selflessness.

“You’re an absolute legend Brendan,” one said.

“Good job, Brendan Kendall, you saved their lives! Well done mate,’ remarked a second.

“Thank you, you are a hero,” a third wrote.
