Owen Wilson rocked a Bob Ross-inspired perm on the first poster for the upcoming comedy Paint.

Wilson, 54, who normally has a blonde, shaggy cut, channeled the iconic painter wearing a blonde permed wig and carrying an easel in the first stills of the movie, which will be released April 7.

The background of the poster features evergreen trees at the foot of a snow-capped mountain, honoring Ross’ famous oil paintings of Alaskan landscapes.

Paint sees Wilson playing painter Carl Nargle who lives in Vermont and has a knack for bringing people together. But when Nargle meets a younger and more charismatic performer, his dark side emerges.

The film’s tagline is “Go to a special place,” a take on Ross’s famous catchphrase, “There are no mistakes, only happy accidents.”

Last month, the studio released the trailer for the upcoming film.

The trailer opens with a paintbrush spreading orange paint on a canvas as Nargle is heard saying, “It’s hard not to feel a little lost as we begin.”

He’s seen painting a tree in one take and then saying in the woods, “Let’s take it all in,” while hearing a bird chirping.

“When was the last time you heard someone say something SO interesting?” Bob wonders.

We see Bob back on TV as some vastly different people watch his show in homes, retirement homes and a bar, as Carl says, “There’s nothing like having the one you love closest to you when the world turns cold.” .’

“Thanks for taking me to a special place,” he says on set, as several female producers watch.

He’s also been seen in his car with people yelling at him from the street, as he’s heard saying “I’m always moving forward, just on to the next,” while getting a thumbs up from Tony (Stephen Root) backstage. .

Carl’s world is turned upside down when he discovers a new show, Paint with Ambrosia (Ciara Renee), in the same studio.

The producers are excited about Ambrosia, saying she takes painting “to a whole new place.”

Carl is seen in his van saying to someone on a CB PA system, “You are entitled to your favorite TV show. That’s what makes this country so great.’

A frustrated Carl grabs a bucket of green paint and dumps it on several of his paintings hanging on the wall as the trailer rolls down.

Bob Ross died in 1995 at the age of 52 after a battle with lymphoma.
