Australian actor Peter Hardy – who appeared in Neighbors – revealed as man who tragically drowned on Fremantle beach

Australian actor Peter Hardy has been revealed as the victim who tragically drowned on a Fremantle beach last week aged 66.

The actor played Jimmy Drane in three episodes of the iconic Australian soap opera Neighbors in 1997, but is best known for his roles in McLeod’s Daughters crime drama Chopper.

According to The Western AustralianHardy had traveled to Perth from London to visit his mother.

His brother Michael shared the tragic news on social media on Friday: “I am devastated to say that my brother, Peter Hardy, passed away suddenly this morning…Rest in peace my beloved little brother.”

Tributes begin to pour in after the tragic news of Hardy’s death.

“This news is such a heartbreaking shock. He will be held in the wide arms of the ocean he grew up next to, and in the hearts of all he welcomed into his vital and witty job. Sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues,” Ross Anderson wrote.

His friend Andy Burns said, “On the morning of March 16, a dear friend of ours was taken from us… the amazing and beautiful Peter Hardy drowned while snorkeling off South Beach Perth.”

“He was 66 years old and looked like a Greek god, so fit and so happy to be back in his native WA, visiting from London where he had made his home.”

“Words cannot express how deeply I feel this loss. We’ve been good friends since we lived together in Neutral Bay Sydney in the mid-1980s.’

“He was a great actor, a great singer and guitarist, he also played drums and saxophone. He always loved performing in the theatre, as well as in film and TV. He decided to buy a tour boat in London that he had set up beautifully with some recording equipment and he sent me recorded guitar tracks there to add backgrounds to.’

“Sincere condolences to all his family and many friends on this devastating loss, especially his beautiful girlfriend Lysa, our thoughts are with you…”

“Vale best friend Peter Hardy RIP…Adele and I are inconsolable at this time with such a great loss.”
