A Pennsylvania woman was killed after being attacked by her neighbors’ dogs that she went to feed while their owner was away.
State police said Kristin Potter, 38, died after being attacked by the two Great Danes Thursday night in Center Township southwest of New Bloomfield.
Perry County coroner Robert Ressler said Potter went to the house with her young son, who ran for help when two of the three dogs present suddenly attacked her.
Ressler said emergency responders and police officers were unable to reach her until animal control personnel arrived and calmed the dogs down.
Potter’s young son had accompanied her to feed the dogs and quickly sought help when the dogs suddenly turned on her.

“He was on the scene, but I don’t think he was a big part of it,” Ressler said. “As soon as he saw the dogs start attacking his mother, he ran across the road to have his brother call 911.”
The two animals involved in the attack were later taken to a vet and euthanized.
Officials said a third dog was present but did not participate in the attack.
Brandon Zeiders, who is engaged to Potter’s sister, said state police told him the two Great Danes may have been fighting initially and then turned their aggression on Potter when she tried to intervene.
Potter was described as a kind-hearted individual who had dealt with past tragedies.

The dogs’ owner expressed her devastation over the incident, stating she was in shock and disbelief.
“I’m heartbroken, I’m in shock, I’m in disbelief and I just want to die,” said Wendy Sabathne. “I can’t believe this happened.”
Potter’s father said that one of the dogs bit Potter a few years earlier.
She had already experienced the loss of her husband and the death of one of her sons in a bicycle accident in 2020 at the age of 11. Potter was engaged and planned to move to Florida with her fiancé.

Potter’s fiancé Jacob Presley Fickett posted a tribute to her online
Her younger sister remembered the mother of two from Center Township as someone with a great personality who made everyone feel better around her.
“Being around her just makes you feel better,” said Jennifer Keefer WGAL. “Taking to her just makes you feel better.
“With all the tragedy that has happened in her life, she still had a high faith in God,” said Keefer. “She was just that way. She felt like there’s a reason for everything.”
“She was just sweet to be around. Everyone loved her.’
a GoFundMe page was set up to help provide for Potter’s two sons.
