Matthew Lawrence gushes about girlfriend Chilli and explains how they met: ‘She’s really special’
Matthew Lawrence recently opened up about new girlfriend Chilli, who he started dating last year.
Speak with Entertainment tonightThe Boy Meets World alumnus, 43, explained how he met the TLC singer, 52, on a last-minute flight.
And when asked if the new couple wants kids, he replied, “I hope.” That’s the game plan. That’s what we’re trying to do.’
The Ms. Doubtfire actress elaborated, “My life is in full bloom right now. I get to spend time with a wonderful woman like Chilli.’
Last year, Lawrence finalized his divorce from professional dancer Cheryl Burke, to whom he had been married for nearly three years.

Of his new pairing with Chilli, he said: “I never got to experience [this] kind of relationship for it. She’s a very, very special person.’
He added, “I wish more people on the planet were like them. We’d be much better off.’
The two crossed paths when they were on the same flight to Atlanta.
“It was really the flight talking and then saying, ‘Hey, you know what? Let’s keep in touch,’ and it almost didn’t happen,” Lawrence said of the coincidence.
“Literally an hour before the flight took off, they said, ‘Okay, we put you on this flight. You have to go,'” he recalled.
They had also met casually at an event where Matthew was speaking on a panel.
Initially their bond was platonic, he noted. “It was just real friendship, you know, for five or six months, just long distances on the phone, getting to know each other, seeing each other here and there.”
They eventually took their relationship to the next level, and now the actor has met Chilli’s family, including her son Tron, 25, who she shares with ex Dallas Austin.
The news of the romance between Chilli and Matthew came in January, after that TMZ reported that just before Thanksgiving, the pair became more than just friends.
The lovebirds spent Thanksgiving and Christmas together in Atlanta, where Matthew was introduced to Chilli’s family.
The pair officially took to Instagram with their romance in late December when they shared a video of them dancing in pajamas.

In the video, Chilli and Matthew wore matching rompers as they showed off their moves and sang along to Take on Me by a-ha.
They captioned the joint Instagram post with three hashtags: #newyearsshenanigans #onesiegang #wecute.”
Chilli’s rep Christal Jordan confirmed the romance to People, adding, “I’ve been with Chilli since 2005 and I’ve never seen her so in love. She glows. They’re really cute together.’
