March Madness: Joe Biden’s pick to win the NCAA Tournament, top-seeded Arizona, is upset by Princeton
Biden’s braces broken! President’s pick to win NCAA Tournament, second-seeded Arizona suffers first round against Princeton by 15 spots
President Joe Biden was one of several college basketball fans who had their March Madness streak caught after Princeton was upset by second-seeded Arizona.
Biden had selected Arizona to win the national championship in his class and since they have now been sent home, it is unlikely that Biden will stand a chance of winning the White House March Madness pools he has competed in.
Princeton entered the game as the underdog with 15 points, but eventually won the game 59-55.
Arizona led only one point at halftime when the score was 31-30, but the Wildcats could only muster 24 points as they were knocked out in the second half.
Princeton now plays No. 7 seed Missouri in the next round of the NCAA Tournament.

Biden wasn’t the only White House member enjoying some college basketball on Thursday, as Vice President Kamala Harris was booed as he watched her alma mater, the storied HBCU Howard University, be demolished by Kansas 96-68.
“I mean, here we are in Des Moines. And they’re struggling, they work hard, they’re so disciplined and it’s a joy to see them here in March Madness,” Harris said of Howard’s men’s basketball team in the second half. “So many of us who are here love our school.”
“And Howard University, I’m running for my first position as a freshman class representative and have always been a part of the Howard community.
“And I’m sure everyone who has a team understands what it means and the joy and the commitment we have in the traditions and the loyalty to your team.”
When the vice president was shown on the arena’s jumbotron, boos drowned out the applause given to her. Audience demographics may have played a role in the reaction to seeing the former California senator on the arena’s video board.
More than half of voters in Iowa, where the contest was held (53.1 percent), voted for Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election, compared to 44.9 percent of those voting for Joe Biden.

Of course, Biden wasn’t alone in being knocked out on Thursday, thanks to several setbacks, including Furman’s defeat of fourth-seeded Virginia.
The NCAA March Madness Twitter account posted midway through the first round that only 0.065 percent of brackets remained perfect.
Elsewhere, the numbers were similar.
In ESPN’s Tournament Challenge bracket game, 18,078 perfect brackets remained – and more than 20 million had suffered at least one loss.
Furman got quite a bit of support. The Paladins were picked to win their opener with 18.2 percent of the brackets. Only 6.6 percent chose Princeton to beat Arizona, and the Wildcats going down did massive damage to many brackets. They were picked from the brackets in 4.9 percent to cut the nets at the national championship game.
Arizona was also a popular pick at CBS Sports, with 96.9 percent of brackets winning the opener, 84.9 percent making it to the Sweet 16, 55.2 percent making it to the Elite Eight, 21.5 percent making it to reach the Final Four and 5 percent to win it all.
