Manu Feildel does some shopping after promoting his own assortment in the supermarket

Manu Feildel does some shopping after advertising his own range in the supermarket… after his signature sauce was one of the few items on the shelves during the lockdown

Celebrity chef Manu Feildel stocked up on his own sauce range before doing some shopping at a Coles Local in Sydney’s Birkenhead mall on Thursday.

The 48-year-old My Kitchen Rules judge wore a navy blue “Sauce By Manu” T-shirt as he wandered the supermarket aisles after his in-store tasting.

Manu seemed to rummage through the health food section before reaching for a bottle of mineral water.

He later went to the self-service checkout to purchase his supplies.

Manu’s food range has gained popularity in recent years, after he awkwardly discovered that his gravy pouches were one of the few items Australians were not stocking during the 2020 covid pandemic.

At the time, the celebrity chef was trying to whip up his signature sauce when he noticed there were still plenty of packs of it on the rows of bare shelves at his local Woolworths.

Despite customers clearing out the fresh meat section, they didn’t seem interested in his gourmet sauce.

“You guys know how much I love my sauce,” Manu said in an Instagram video of his trip to the shops.

He walked over to the nearly empty shelves and added, “So we can put in a little bit of lamb.” And lots of sauce. Yum!’

The My Kitchen Rules judge expressed surprise in the caption, before urging fans to “be nice.”

‘Going to the shops to eat something after work is a bit more difficult at the moment, empty shelves everywhere!’ He wrote.

“Be nice to each other and only buy what you need (and I always need sauce) so there’s enough for everyone when they need it,” he added.

The products have since undergone a complete makeover with the sauces in more colorful packaging after customers struggled to find them on supermarket shelves.

“It feels like another proud moment as I introduce you to our bolder range of @bymanuf sauces,” he announced on his Instagram page last month.

“We listened to you when you said they were hard to find on the shelf, so we’ve made the changes in brighter, more eye-catching packaging! Hopefully more of you can find them easily now.’

“It’s the same delicious sauce, just a new package,” he added.

Manu’s signature sauces are available in Woolworths supermarkets and Coles Local stores.
