A man has died after being arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer in northern New South Wales.
Richmond precinct officers were called to a show ground on Summerland Way in Casino after a man was attacked around 11am on Sunday.
Police allege that when they arrived at the show grounds, a 48-year-old man allegedly assaulted a police officer.
The man was arrested and taken to Casino police station.

A critical incident team from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Division will now investigate all the circumstances surrounding the man’s death (stock image pictured)
During his arrest, the man became unconscious.
NSW police and paramedics attempted to resuscitate the man, but he died in custody.
A critical incident team from the homicide division of the State Crime Command will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
The investigation will be subject to an independent review and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
