The little-known former shop assistant Mae Muller will be revealed by the BBC tomorrow as a British participant in the Eurovision Song Contest.
The Daily Mail can reveal that the London-born singer has been chosen by music industry experts in the hope that she will follow last year’s British star Sam Ryder to success when he came second to the Ukrainian competitor with his hit SPACE MAN.
Sources say the decision to pick 25-year-old Miss Muller was made in recent days and they are confident she will win ‘much more’ than zero points when she takes the stage in Liverpool in May.
One said: ‘Mae is an extraordinary talent and there is little doubt that she will make the country proud and hopefully replicate the success and euphoria that Sam brought to last year’s game.
“A lot of time and effort went into choosing the best singer for the job, she may not be a household name yet and of course the people who picked her expect people to ask who she is, but they think the nation will love her like those all over Europe.’

Miss Muller started writing her own songs at the age of eight before dropping out of college and getting a job in an American Apparel clothing store.
She later took up work in a pub in Kentish Town, North London, so she could focus on her music during the day.
She recently admitted that her musical inspirations include Gwen Stefani, Florence and the Machine, and Lily Allen.
Miss Muller also revealed that she first became interested in music when her mother played Dixie Chicks’ album Home.
