Love Island star Claudia Fogarty admits her famous father Carl banned her from having sex in the villa and says the former I’m A Celeb winner “struggled” to see her cry on the show.

Claudia, 28, told MailOnline that the biker champion warned his youngest daughter to ‘don’t do stupid things’ during her stint on the dating series or he would have a ‘heart attack’ at home.

In an exclusive interview, Claudia revealed that her father, who won I’m A Celeb in 2014, stopped tuning into Love Island after he “struggled” to see her in tears when she was left heartbroken by co-star Casey O’Gorman.

She explained that Carl, 57, was deeply affected by scenes of Claudia sobbing after Casey rejected her in favor of bombshell Rosie Seabrook.

When she convinced her parents, including Mum Michaela, to let her into Love Island, Claudia said, “My dad told me on TV not to sleep with anyone and that was all he said… as long as I was myself or didn’t embarrass myself. would do something like that, where they could see me being intimate, he wouldn’t mind me doing it.’

She added, “Fortunately I didn’t do anything like that there or he would have had a heart attack!”

“He struggled with me being in the villa to be honest and my mom told me he really missed me, and he struggled more than he thought,” said Claudia.

“When he saw me cry and get upset, it really hit him. My dad isn’t really an emotional person, and he doesn’t open up much, but I cried… he had a hard time watching it.

“Some nights he said he couldn’t watch it at all because it upset him to see me go through everything I did, so when I got home it was so wonderful to see him.”

Claudia’s older sister Danielle, 31, was engaged to X Factor singer Jake Quickenden after the former couple were proposed by Carl following their joint jungle stink.

She has since married Ex on the Beach star Ross Worswick and they share son Mason together, with Danielle announcing in February that they are expecting their second child.

The Islander said starring on Love Island gave her a chance to show viewers her personality, instead of being known as Carl’s daughter’s sister or Danielle, she now has her own identity.

She said, “My dad is well known and my sister is quite well known, so it was nice for people to see me and not just as someone’s daughter.

“Now when people recognize me, it’s not ‘you’re Carl’s daughter’ or ‘Danielle’s sister’ it’s ‘you’re Claudia from Love Island.’ I only wanted to show my personality and fun side, but also my vulnerability.’

Love Island bosses have tried more than once to recruit Claudia into the show, but the reality star turned down the opportunity after she suffered from physical insecurities.

She explained that throughout her 20s she struggled with self-esteem issues, which stemmed from a paparazzi image of her on the beach showing her figure in an unflattering light, as well as Claudia feeling uncomfortable in her own skin. felt.

She said, “The show was offered to me a few years ago, but because I’ve never had complete confidence in myself and the way I look… when I was asked, it was a no.

“But this time something changed in me, and I thought it was now or never.

“I have always been weighed down by body confidence and insecurity, which will always be there for me. Every day on the show I felt self-conscious and thought ‘oh my God, what do I look like?’ And that will never go away.’

Claudia admits she’s haunted by the 2014 photo, which showed her in a bikini while in Australia following her dad’s I’m A Celeb win.

But her battle with body image goes deeper than the paparazzi shot, with Claudia saying she struggled to like herself in school and growing up used to hide herself in pictures, trying to appear slimmer.

She said: ‘I was always the chubby one at school… I’m not saying I’m fat, it’s just how I felt inside myself.

“There was a time when I was on vacation with my family after my dad had just come out of the jungle and we were on a beach, I was on a jet ski with my dad and a paparazzi picture was taken, I was 22… i just remember crying my eyes out. I thought ‘that’s awful’ but I’ve always struggled.

“For years I hid myself in pictures or tried to make myself look thinner, standing somewhere where you couldn’t see me very often. I got on the scale and I remember thinking, How did I let myself get like this? It’s about accepting yourself and it wasn’t that I was fat, I just didn’t feel like myself.’

She overcame her insecurities after working out twice a week with a personal trainer and changing her diet, which ultimately led to her saying “yes” when Love Island’s casting producers came knocking.

She added, “As soon as I started working out and feeling healthier, I was like wow…how have I never done this before?”

“It’s a lifestyle change, as women we all struggle with it, but once I got there, I’ve maintained my weight for the last three years…I will always fluctuate, but not hugely.” It wasn’t until about three years ago that I lost quite a bit of weight.

“I’ve always been the funny, outgoing one, but I wanted to be the confident one on the outside as well as the inside one. I’m now at the point where I can overcome it, but I don’t limit myself… if I want a pizza for my tea, I’ll have a pizza for my tea… eat the cheeseburger! After all, you only live once.’

Claudia, who co-owns fashion brand Sister Stories with Danielle, discussed overcoming her body issues with ex-Islander Scott Thomas on the Learning As I Go podcast.

She’d like her young audience to know that she’s not as confident as she seemed when she stepped into the Love Island mansion during the Heart Rate Challenge in red lingerie and Victoria’s Secret-inspired wings.

She added: ‘Now that I have a bit of a following, I want to say that I’m not always that confident person, especially with the way I walked into the villa… that was so hard for me. I thought I couldn’t put on that lingerie… Claudia would never have done that four years ago. But it was actually a very powerful moment.”
