Lance Reddick tribute: Wendell Pierce shares heartfelt comment following the death of his The Wire co-star
Hollywood actor Lance Reddick died suddenly on Friday at the age of 60.
And soon after, heartbreaking tributes for The Wire star were shared on social media.
His The Wire costar Wendell Pierce was one of the first to present his note.
Pierce tweeted his message shortly after learning of his friend’s death. “A man of great strength and grace,” the actor wrote in a heartfelt message.
‘Equally talented musician as actor. The epitome of class. A sudden unexpected sharp painful sadness for our artistic family. An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Thank God my friend. You made your mark here. REST IN PEACE.’
James Gunn and Aaron Ginsburg also shared their notes.

Oscar winner Viola Davis, who co-starred with the actor in 2012’s Won’t Back Down, expressed her grief.
‘Shocked!! Speechless!! This talented, kind, intelligent king is gone!!’ she posted.
“I was blessed to have worked with you and blessed to have known you. Praying for comfort for your family and loved ones! Rest well, Lance Reddick…..see you on the other side’
Grammy and Oscar winner Questlove wrote, “I can’t take it anymore. rip Lance Reddick.”
Michael Connelly, who wrote the books on which the popular Bosch series is based, wrote a fond farewell.

“I’m thinking of my friend Lance Reddick. Not only was he a key ingredient in the Bosch show, he was also a wonderful person, friend and collaborator. He took a character that was paper thin on the books and made Irvin Irving.
Ben Stiller shared a childhood memory of his experience with Reddick, writing, “Lance Reddick was a beautiful and compelling actor. And a beautiful person. He teamed up with my mother Anne Meara in her play “Afterplay”, playing Raziel, the waiter who cut the angel of death. He was excellent at that and everything he did. Nothing is lost.’
Kurtwood Smith, who worked with Reddick on 2019’s Business Ethics, remembered him as “A wonderful actor and such a decent man! Way too young to go!’
Patten Oswalt tried to ease the burden of the actor’s sudden loss by writing “Unacceptable.” Death, I want your badge and scythe on my desk tomorrow at 9 o’clock.”

Ben Stiller shared a memory of Reddick’s work from his early years, explaining how he met the actor when he teamed up with his mother Anne Meara in Afterplay in 1995.

Reddick — who played Cedric Daniels on the hit TV series — is believed to have died of natural causes, law enforcement officials said TMZ.
The talented actor was in the middle of a promotional tour for John Wick: Chapter 4 playing the role of janitor Charon.
The movie will be released on March 24.
On Thursday, Reddick uploaded a photo of himself curled up at home with his three dogs to an Instagram post on National Puppy Day.
He wrote, “On screen and off, it’s no surprise I love to spoil my dogs.”

And three days ago, he uploaded a video of him happily singing “and the beat goes on” while his dogs barked in the background.
Reddick will be best remembered for his role as Daniels on the hit HBO crime series The Wire, appearing in all 60 episodes alongside stars like Dominic West and Idris Elba.
But he also enjoyed roles in blockbuster movies, including Godzilla Vs. Kong and Angel has fallen.
And he was the voice of Commander Zavala in the Destiny video games.
He is survived by his wife Stephanie Reddic, daughter Yvonne Nicole Redick and son Christopher Reddick.
