John Wick: Chapter 4 becomes the highest rated installment in the blockbuster franchise

John Wick: Chapter 4 has beaten its three predecessors to officially become the highest-rated movie in the blockbuster franchise.

After nearly 90 ratings, the latest installment of Keanu Reeves’ beloved action saga has scored an amazing 93 percent on Rotten tomatoes.

The surefire hit premiered March 24 in theaters across the country, but initial response has been enthusiastic about the action-packed set pieces and Keanu’s central performance.

The debut of franchise newcomer, martial arts legend Donnie Yen, has been particularly critically acclaimed, and the sequel’s whopping three-hour runtime hasn’t dampened the enthusiasm.

Anticipation for the film has skyrocketed in recent weeks, with early reviews going viral on social media.

SlashFilm’s Vanessa Armstrong tweeted, “#JohnWick4 is the best movie I’ve seen in ages! “It’s like a Greek epic that is, yes, full of unparalleled action (and guns), and the set pieces are phenomenal. But it’s also about relationships and love.

Armstrong went on to call the film “a breathtaking, heartbreaking story!” and declared, “Can’t wait to see it again.”

Brandon Davis of ComicBook.com added, “#JohnWick4 absolutely rocks, from start to finish. Keanu Reeves finds new ways to impress with stunning action and surrounds himself with incredible newcomers to the franchise. Chapters 1-3 are built by the world and Chapter 4 could all work with it. An epic explosion on the big screen. CINEMA!’

Scott Mendelson of The Wrap tweeted, “#JohnWick4 is, at least from a technical pov, one of the best Hollywood action movies ever made. It is visually stunning with stunningly intricate and creative set pieces. I honestly don’t know how they did some of these scenes safely. It is a major artistic achievement.’

But the future of the iconic franchise seems uncertain after director Chad Stahelski announced that both he and Keanu are “done for now.”

Speak against The Hollywood ReporterStahelski revealed that he and Reeves want to put the franchise to rest after releasing four movies in nine years.

“In our minds, Keanu and I are done for now. We’re going to give John Wick some rest. I’m sure the studio has a plan. If everyone loves it and it gets crazy, we’ll take a minute off.”

Stahelski added that when the press tour ends in Japan, he and Reeves will think about the future of the franchise

The filmmaker said, “Keanu and I will make the long trip to Tokyo, we’ll sit in the Imperial Hotel Scotch Bar and say, ‘What do you think?’

“We’ll take a few 20-year-old whiskeys and write some ideas on napkins. If those ideas stick, we might make a movie.’

But fans still have the upcoming spin-off movie Ballerina to look forward to, as Anna de Armas will be joined by Reeves in the highly anticipated expansion of the John Wick Universe.
