James Van Der Beek commemorated his 46th birthday by sharing several images on his Instagram account on Monday.
The snaps showed the Dawson’s Creek star spending quality time with all of his six children, who he shares with his wife, Kimberly Brook.
The artist, who celebrated the birthday of one of his children last January, also penned a lengthy message in the caption of his post to publicly express his feelings about life in his mid-40s.
Van Der Beek began his statement by writing that he ‘has been feeling a new relationship with time lately. I always tried to bend it to my will: speed it up, squeeze more in, make it shorter. Or panic when passing it. Or just ignore it altogether.’
The Varsity Blues star added, “Recently I found myself getting happier as I got more in touch with reverence and reverence for time. Yes, it CAN be stretched. It can fly.’

The actor wrote, “This planet, this dimension, is governed by time: trees grow at their pace. The Earth rotates almost constantly. And the more reverence I can find for all this, the more life becomes a living prayer of appreciation.”
He also described life as a “great cosmic mystery whose edginess we can sometimes catch.”
Van Der Beek then remarked, “The more reverence I can muster for the lessons I’ve only earned in time…the healthier I have a relationship with miracles.”
The artist ended by describing his message as “a long-winded way of saying: Rock from the Middle Ages.”
The actor and Brook tied the knot in a wedding ceremony that took place in Israel in 2010.
He was formerly married to Heather Ann McComb, and their marriage lasted from 2003 to 2010.
Van Der Beek and Brook started their family with the arrival of their daughter Olivia, now 12 years old, in 2010.
The two added daughters Annabel, Emilia and Gwendolyn, ages eight, six and four, and a son named Joshua, age ten, to their family over the years.
