Influencer-turned-athlete Jake Paul’s boxing trainer was in hospital after being shot during a reported armed robbery.
BJ Flores took to Twitter to explain what he would have endured on Thursday night, including being held at gunpoint.
Flores said he ‘manages'[d] to be shot in the leg just once’ after being held up at a red light in Medellin, a city in the northwest of the country.
‘Last night I was attacked by 2 armed motorcyclists as a passenger at a RED LIGHT’ Flores wrote on Instagram accompanied by a video of an x-ray showing the bullet lodged in his thigh.
“They stopped, put a gun to my head, tried to steal my wallet and my watch. They shot me in the leg once and I defended myself as best I could. I’m still in the emergency room waiting for the bullet to be removed at 5:18 AM.

Gun to my right temple, I was able to move the gun down and managed to get shot in the leg only once. Hospital is now waiting for surgery to remove the bullet, thank God I’m alive.”
Showing a lump on the side of his head, Flores admitted that he and his group were “absolutely targeted,” but expressed gratitude for the fact that he was still breathing.
“Stay safe out there and everyone be careful. Appreciate the messages, thank you very much.’
Before training Paul, Flores was a professional fighter himself, debuting in 2003 before retiring in 2018.
He has been Paul’s full-time trainer since 2021, and of course he was present in Saudi Arabia when the Problem Child lost via split decision to Tommy Fury in January.
Flores is now a boxing trainer, having previously fought for the IBO Cruiserweight title in 2010
