Idris Elba has revealed who was the best dancer at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s May 2018 wedding reception.

The London-based actor also has a very successful career in the music industry, playing nightclubs and festivals in Ibiza, and was personally asked by Prince Harry to entertain the party at Frogmore House.

The Luther actor previously revealed it was the Duchess, 41, who provided him with a list of all the songs to be played on the big day.

And now he’s spoken out about who was the best mover on the dance floor at the event, telling ET Canada: ‘I think Meghan was the one who really enjoyed letting it go.

“You know, she was really… She was just having a lot of fun. It was her wedding. So she had the best time.’

Harry and Meghan tied the knot in front of millions around the world at St George’s Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018.

In addition to their families, the guest list expanded to include a number of celebrities, including the Beckhams, George Clooney, and Oprah Winfrey.

And in a previous interview, Idris revealed that he thought Prince Harry was “joking” when he offered him the gig.

Speaking on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, he spoke about how the Duke came to offer him the job, saying, “So Harry and I hung out a few times through his dad’s [Prince Charles] charity – The Prince’s Trust – that helped me when I was a young actor.

“Harry came to a few parties where I was a DJ and he said, ‘What are you doing [May 19]?”‘

The Mandela actor explained he was stunned when approached for the enviable role: “I didn’t tell him anything and then he asked me to shoot at his wedding… I thought, is this a joke?”

Meanwhile, he has said elsewhere that he felt the night as a great pressure.

He said, “That was an incredible experience. I curated the music for that night, so it was a lot of pressure, but it was great. An ambience.’

Speaking to ET Canada, he said the Duchess “really let loose” and enjoyed the dance floor at the wedding reception

Among Meghan’s requested songs for the event were Still by Dr. Dre and Whitney Houston’s classic, I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

In their Netflix series, Harry and Meghan shared some photos from their wedding album.

In a clip about the 2018 reception, Meghan said, “I just wanted the music to be fun. Even our first dance.’

She turns to her husband and asks, “Song of 1000 dances?” A thousand dances? I always misunderstand.’

The Duchess sings lyrics from the 1960s soul hit Land Of A Thousand Dances, which the couple chose as their first dance.

It is the first time they have publicly announced which song they have chosen.

Snapshots from the event showed Meghan and Harry twirling on the dance floor, as well as boogying with friends from their star-studded guest list.

Idris’ reveal today comes after Prince Harry and Meghan declared today that it is Archie and Lilibet’s “birthright” to be named prince and princess in a new statement defending the decision.

The Duke and Duchess also insisted that the matter had been ‘settled’ with King Charles for some time – despite this being revealed by the couple only yesterday.

The king is said to have told Prince Harry that his children can be called prince and princess in a ‘private conversation’ after the queen’s funeral last year.

But their 21-month-old daughter Lilibet saw her royal title of “Princess” formally used for the first time yesterday when the couple told the world she had been baptized in California without Charles, Camilla, William and Kate present.

A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan said: “The children’s titles have been a birthright since their grandfather became Monarch. This matter has been settled for some time in coordination with Buckingham Palace.’

Sources close to the Sussexes had suggested they were frustrated that Buckingham Palace did not immediately recognize Archie and Lilibet’s titles following the Queen’s death six months ago.
