There had previously been rumors from Sudeikis and others behind the show that the third season would be the show’s last, though it’s not clear if that’s still the plan.

“This story is going to end [in season three]anyway, even if the show finds another story to tell and continues,” said Bill Lawrence, who co-created the series with Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly, after Season 2 ended.

Hunt added in an August 2022 interview, “We’re writing an ending to this three part that we’ve always seen, but it’s not like Thanos is in it and half of us die.”

“Anyway, most of us will probably still be alive, so I don’t think it’s anything to worry about if you’re excluding someone.” It’s just a matter of if we pick this up in a different way and when,” he added.

Ted Lasso follows the title character of Jason Sudeikis, a Division II winning football national champion who has surprisingly been hired to coach the AFC Richmond football team… despite having absolutely no experience coaching football.
