In a TikTok series titled “men are weird with money,” Canada’s Maddy Blythe described the strange situation with her now ex-boyfriend in a video.
The 26-year-old and her now-ex-boyfriend only visited his family once because they lived in different states, and after the trip he sent her a list of all expenses.

In a TikTok series titled “men are weird with money,” Canada’s Maddy Blythe (pictured) said her now ex-boyfriend emailed her a $3.23 bill for the banana and toast she ate at his mother at home
Reflecting on the trip, Maddy said it was “fine” because they “mostly did their own thing,” but they had dinner with his mother one night and breakfast the next morning.
“Me and my boyfriend ended up paying for dinner because it was a bit expensive and we wanted to treat his mom,” she said.
A few days later after returning home, she received an email from her friend with an Excel document attached.
Maddy said they “usually” split expenses using the Excel spreadsheet, but this time she noticed the odd addition.
“I noticed there was a line in his Excel document that I was a little confused about. The line just said ‘breakfast’ for $3.23,” she continued.
“So I asked him, ‘Hey, what’s this $3.23 for breakfast?’ and he looks straight at me and says, “Oh, that’s for the banana and the piece of toast you ate at my mother’s.”‘
‘Excuse me sir?’ She answered.
“He said, ‘Yeah, you ate that, so you owe me and my mom money.
“This man was dead when he tried to charge me for a banana and a piece of Wonder Bread.
“I asked how he calculated it and he said, ‘It just seemed fair.'”
Although she thought the request strange, Maddy paid him the small amount anyway.
‘I paid, okay. I gave him the $3.23!” she said.
Thinking back to the request, Maddy said she “wouldn’t accept this right now.”
In another video, Maddy also revealed the spreadsheet format her ex-boyfriend used. “I dove into my emails and found out what a typical monthly Excel spreadsheet would look like,” she said (Photo: The Monthly Spreadsheet)
In another video, Maddy also revealed the spreadsheet format her ex-boyfriend used.
“I dug into my emails and found out what a typical monthly Excel spreadsheet would look like,” she said.
The spreadsheet was color-coded and also included the amount Maddy “owed” each month.
Maddy also revealed the “very business-sounding emails” they would send each other.
“He said, ‘Let me know if there are any changes, see the notes next to the expenses, the ones marked in yellow are the most common,'” Maddy added.
The first video has since been viewed more than 766,000 times, with many labeling the behavior as “toxic.”
“The fact that you were okay with getting a spreadsheet format bill from your boyfriend?” one person noticed.
“How did you not break up with him on the spot?” asked another.
“I could never sleep with that man again,” said a third.
“I’m too stunned to say anything. I’m stunned girl I can’t imagine you were a guest at his house,” added another.
