Hugh Grant seems in a much better mood as he receives a surprise gift from the Australian reporter during a new interview following his awkward Oscar exchange with model Ashley Graham
Channel 10 presenter Angela Bishop gave Hugh Grant a surprise gift after his awkward Oscar interview with model Ashley Graham went viral.
Following the 95th annual Academy Awards in Hollywood last Sunday, the British actor received immediate reactions on social media for rolling his eyes at the model as she interviewed him on the red carpet.
The 62-year-old kept his answers very short and seemed blatantly uninterested in her questions.
Following their awkward interview, Channel 10 spoke to The Notting Hill actor on Friday about his new movie Dungeons & Dragons and presenter Angela Bishop gave him a present.
She surprised him with a video message from Nicholas Hammond, who played Friedrich Von Trapp in The Sound Of Music, because Hugh said it’s one of his favorite movies.

“I have a message for you from a very good friend of mine, Nicholas Hammond, who played Frederick,” Angela said.
Nicholas’s video message was then shown on screen and he said, “My great friend Angela Bishop told me you enjoyed the movie and that’s great to hear, I’ll pass that on to the other Von Trapp kids.”
“I just wanted to let you know that I am so happy that you enjoyed it and that I also really enjoy all of your work.
“I’m going to Hugh now, so long, and Hugh and Hugh!”

The British actor then said it was so nice to get a message from him, and that he was a bit star struck.
He looked much livelier in the interview compared to his disastrous Oscar performance on the red carpet, and he thanked Angela for the kind thought.
During his awkward red carpet chat with model Ashley, the About A Boy star kept his answers short and seemed blatantly uninterested in her questions.
The bubbly Ashley started the chat and said, “What was it like being in Glass Onion?” How nice is it to photograph something like that?’
But she got a chilling response: “Well, I’m barely in it, I was in it for about three seconds,” said Hugh.
“It must have been fun, didn’t you have fun?” Ashley said as she went through the one sided chat.

“Um… almost,” the actor replied, looking away.
Grinning and carrying the interview, the model asked, “What are you wearing?” While Hugh offered an insightful, “My suit.”
Viewers at home were rather embarrassed by the exchange, praising Ashley for how she handled the difficult situation and saying the moment was “the worst” since Will Smith’s infamous slap of Chris Rock at the 2022 ceremony.
However, others said her questions were boring and wondered why a model with little hosting experience was interviewing on the Oscars red carpet.
