Cara Delevingne has been reflecting on her mental health and addiction battles after worrying about a series of erratic incidents last year.

The model, 30, worried fans when she made several public appearances and has now revealed she has secretly checked into rehab after the ‘heartbreaking’ images woke her up.

Speak against Fashion magazine as their April cover star, she confessed that she hadn’t been “ready” to deal with her demons before, but after being in a “bad place” she realized she had to prioritize her recovery.

She explained, “I had some sort of interventions, but I wasn’t ready. That is the problem.

“If you’re not lying face down on the floor and ready to get back up, you won’t. At that point I was really… I hadn’t seen a therapist in three years. I just pushed everyone away, which made me realize how badly I was in a bad place.”

Cara continues: ‘I used to think that work should be done when times are bad, but actually work should be done when times are good.

“The work must be done consistently. It will never be repaired or fully cured, but that’s fine with me, and that’s the difference.”

Cara’s well-being was at the forefront of the concerns of her friends and family last year after she was pictured displaying erratic behavior on several occasions.

The model explained that she had been lying to herself about her health and it wasn’t until she saw herself in the photos that she realized she needed help.

‘I hadn’t slept. I was not okay,” she explained. “It’s heartbreaking because I thought I was having fun, but at one point I thought, ‘Okay, I don’t look good.’

“You know, sometimes you need a reality check, so in a way those pictures were something to be thankful for.”

At the time, Cara was pictured being visited by friends and family and Cara explained that it made her realize how loved she is.

She confessed to having many “shallow” relationships because she would hold back her emotions so as not to “burden” anyone and because of her fear of being abandoned.

“If you asked any of my friends, they’d say they’d never seen me cry,” she confessed.

‘From September I just needed support. I had to start reaching. And my old friends that I’ve known since I was 13, they all came over and we started crying. They looked at me and said, “You deserve a chance to have joy.”

Through her work in therapy, Cara realized she had to stop chasing the idea of a “quick fix” for healing and has committed to following the 12-step program.

She explained, “I used to be always into the quick fix of healing, like going to a week-long retreat or going to a trauma course, and that helped for a while, but it never really got to the heart of it, the deeper stuff.

“This time I realized that a 12-step treatment was best, and that it was about not being ashamed of it. The community made a huge difference. The opposite of addiction is connection, and I really found that in 12-step.’

While Cara has made peace with the fact that her journey won’t be straight forward, she struggles with the fact that outsiders don’t understand.

She shared her frustrations with people simplifying her struggles, noting that her recovery will not happen “overnight” and she is aware that it will be a lifelong commitment.

She explained, “This process has its ups and downs, of course, but I’ve come to realize so much. People want my story to be this after-school special where I just say, “Oh look, I was hooked, and now I’m sober and that’s it.”

‘And it’s not that simple. It doesn’t happen overnight…. Of course I want things to happen immediately – I think this generation in particular wants things to happen quickly – but I’ve had to dig deeper.’

It’s certainly a sad chapter in the story of Cara’s life – which is already filled with many twists and turns and excitement.

Besides her modeling career, Cara also dove into the acting industry and graced the big screen countless times, garnered a slew of celebrities, designed her own collection of handbags with Mulberry, released a novel and launched her own champagne brand. with her sisters – those are just some of the many accomplishments she has accomplished.

But what should have been an illustrious career was plagued with controversy and scandal; It’s been rumored for years that Cara, who was previously described by friends as “the life of the party,” was on drugs – and she’s admitted to struggling with depression, saying she once contemplated suicide during the height of her fame.

Before breaking into the scene, the actress’s childhood was not much easier. Her socialite mother, who had connections to the royal family, played the role of a high society debutante to the outside world, but behind the scenes she struggled with a heroin addiction and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

Cara, who identifies as pansexual, said she spent years processing her sexuality, which resulted in her own mental health issues from the age of 15, later revealing that she engaged in self-harm as a teenager.

It comes after Cara revealed that she will “take time to heal” and enjoy the next chapter of her life after “hit it off” with her milestone 30th birthday.

With 2023 in full swing, Cara says she looks forward with a fresher look and wants to be “more gentle” with herself after “doing so much for other people’s approval and love.”

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she admitted that she wondered, “Why? It doesn’t matter and it won’t make you love yourself more. It just doesn’t work.’

Learning from her life experience and maturity in her 30s, she now “takes time to heal and focus on myself and what I want to do.”

She added: ‘What I really want to do, not for others, but for myself. It’s just great fun.’

She noted that a lot of things “clicked” with her milestone birthday last August, and that her priorities have shifted as she has become “more gentle” and kind to herself.

She explained, “I think after turning 30 there was a lot that clicked.

“I think my 20s were brilliant, but there were a lot of different things I wanted to focus on.

“I think there was a part of me that still felt like I was insecure in my teens and doubted and kind of doubted myself all the time.

‘[But] that’s really, about women who are in their prime in their 30s? I just don’t care anymore.
