A British pensioner has been killed off the coast of Bali.
At one of Bali’s most popular spots, Pererenan Beach in Badung Regency, a total of seven foreigners were dragged into the ocean by the strong current on Wednesday.
Only the 83-year-old British man died, while the other foreigners were rescued by lifeguards.
Local reports said lifeguards warned foreign beachgoers about the strong currents and urged them to move to another area in the water.

It is understood that the seven individuals were all bathing on the beach at the popular tourist spot when the incident took place.
Around 4 p.m. local time, a strong current then dragged the seven out to sea.
Despite being a paradise for holidaymakers looking to sunbathe in Bali, there are three permanent sea currents over Pererenan beach that pose a serious danger to beachgoers.
A person on the scene told local newspaper Fajar Bali: “The lifeguard had sounded a warning whistle for the seven victims as they were bathing near a permanent current, but they were ignored, so they were quickly separated by the current.” dragged along.’
A party of four was dragged into the ocean from the south end of the beach, two more were swept further up the coast and one from the north end.
Pererenan lifeguards were on duty and moved quickly to rescue the group of foreigners.
He received first aid and lifeguards on duty performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the man.
All seven people were returned to shore, but the only 83-year-old British man remained in critical condition.

The man was rushed to Mengwi II Health Center in Tumbabakbayuh village for emergency medical treatment.
“Of the seven victims, one person has been pronounced dead… a British citizen,” the police chief said.
“The victim was taken to Mengwi II Tumbabakbayuh Health Center for medical attention,” he continued. “Then the victim was referred to Mangusada Badung Hospital and pronounced dead.”
