A British passenger has been found dead by his wife on board a flight from the UK to Cyprus.

The tourist, 63, lost consciousness while fleeing to the town of Paphos on the southwest coast of the Mediterranean island.

He never regained consciousness and his wife on the same flight alerted the crew.

He was rushed by ambulance to Paphos General Hospital at 11 p.m. local time yesterday.

But doctors at the hospital couldn’t pronounce him dead until he arrived.

A police source told the Cyprus Mail: “We can confirm that he died during the flight, but we can’t say much more about it at the moment.”

They added that they are not considering any criminal activity or anything suspicious about the death.

A 73-year-old Glasgow woman was seriously injured at the same airport last night after falling from the ladder of the plane on arrival.

She was taken to hospital in serious condition with a head injury, a broken collarbone and broken ribs.

Doctors say she is not in danger despite the horrific injuries.
