Americans were shocked by what the Australian five-dollar bill looked like in a viral video that circulated Tuesday.

TikTok star Jesse Sunset – real name Jesse Willesee – showed his friends in the US what the pink beak looks like and received mixed reactions.

Some thought it looked “cool,” while another commented that it looked “fake,” but most wondered why Queen Elizabeth II was printed on it.

The first woman he showed spread it out under a lamp and said it looked “insane.”

“It literally looks fake as f**k. It’s literally plastic. You make your shit out of plastic,’ she said.

Another gentleman looked at it in the sunlight and seemed to enjoy the color and unique Aussie design, pointing out the Prickly Moses wattle.

He also tried crumpling and tearing the note, and was impressed by its sturdiness.

“That would be very hard to fake, wouldn’t it? I like it fat. I don’t know if you still want Queen Elizabeth there. It seems a bit dated,’ he said.

The last man also seemed confused by the ‘plastic’ note and why the queen was on the note, saying, ‘Surely you should have the king on it by now. She [Queen Elizabeth II] died.’

Australians flocked to the TikTok video’s comments to defend the national currency.

One person wrote, ‘Funny how the two dudes say the Queen shouldn’t be on it because she’s dead. Brother, George Washington has been dead for 224 years.”

Someone else said, “It’s not plastic, it’s polymer and the security features in it are world class.”

“Better than paper money destroyed in the washing machine,” a third added.

It comes after the Reserve Bank announced they would not be replacing Queen Elizabeth II with King Charles on the $5 bill.

Instead, they will update the banknote with a new design that honors the culture and history of Indigenous Australians.

Charles III is King of Australia, but in a blow to the royal family, a design honoring the native culture will replace the late Elizabeth II’s image on the note, not her son, who will still appear on penny coins when she is later in 2023 to be released.

The Queen only appeared on the $5 note and the rest featured famous Australian men and women.

The Reserve Bank of Australia has not set a date for the new currency, but confirmed after “consultations with the Australian Government, which supports this change,” that Charles will not be on it.
